What’s Happening in Week 11

Inquiry learning intention: 

"How message can be relayed and received through different forms of expression" We are exploring how stories can be expressed. The whole year one neighbourhood is involved in a collaboration to create a movie. The children have chosen 1 of 4 departments to participate in. The departments include creating the characters, settings, costumes and props.  

Numeracy learning intentions: 
Addition and subtraction stories: Creating maths narratives and solving them by using number sentences (e.g. 10–6=4). Looking at the language used in maths.

Literacy learning experiences: 

·         Narrative Writing – children are writing their own stories based on their experiences

·         Big Books that the children would have read or will be reading (Weeks 10-11)

o   Big Science - Plants We Eat

o   What on Earth

·         Reading Response – Connect, Extend, Challenge – Big Book ‘How Plants Grow’

·         Handwriting and Word Study – the letter ‘w’

Well-Being

‘Smiling Mind’ – meditation education program
